PREPERATION SERVICE OVERVIEW

Laundering

  • All bedding that is in use on beds will be washed in a high heat cycle followed by tumbled dried.
  • All bedding, linens, curtains and clothing and all other items that can be “washed” including stuffed animals, decorative pillows will be tumbled in the dryer for a minimum of 30 minute on the highest heat setting.
  • In order to kill the Bed Bugs, all the “laundry” items in each infected room will be placed in black garbage bags and tied securely. Items will then be removed from the plastic bag and placed directly into the dryer on the highest heat setting for a minimum of 30 minutes.
  • Once infested clothes are in dryers black garbage bags will be properly disposed and immediately placed in a sealed container and brought outside of the building.
  • After all items have been tumbled in the dryer, they will be placed in a new clean, never before used clear garbage bag. The top of the bag will be tied securely.
  • Items that require dry cleaning, the dry cleaners should be informed that the items in question are potentially infested, and the items should be bagged. Cleaners may still refuse to accept them. It’s best that the laundering of all these items be completed prior to the Service Specialist treatment.

Content & Furniture

  • All furniture containing potential hiding crevices, such as bookshelves, desks, night stands china cabinets etc… will be emptied of content.
  • Items in these drawers/shelves will be thoroughly inspected for bed bugs and if safe bagged until room is treated.
  • Items will be placed in tightly sealed clear plastic bags so that residents know what is in the bags.
  • Items that are severely infested will be reported and recommendations on what to do with these items will be made.
  • Disposing of infested items or clutter that can’t be cleaned, will be done with permission of the resident/landlord by placing it in a sealed plastic containers/plastic placing in an outdoor container clearing labelling (INFESTED ITEMS) when possible items will be scored or spray painted to avoid curb-side shopping.
  • A general vacuum of the entire unit and of furniture will be completed prior to treatment – a more in detail with specialized vacuum equipment will be completed during the actual treatment phase.

Hiding Spots/Harbourage Areas

  • Minor repair of cracks in walls, loose wallpaper or spaces in baseboard will be made as these can be hiding spots for bed bugs so you want to make sure they are all being eliminated.
  • Larger structural repairs will be recommended to tenant and Properly Manager.
