At GreenLeaf Pest Control our goals is educate you on bedbugs, determine the best treatment plan, conduct a thorough inspection and provide you with a tailored program and preparation guidelines prior to treatment.
Initial Consultation – you speak with one of our bed bug specialists to determine if in fact you are dealing with a bed bug infestation, what you can immediately do yourself, and next steps.
Inspection – an inspection of your premises with a Pest Management Technician or our bed bug Canine (Tracker) is conducted to confirm the presence of bed bugs, determine the level of infestation and treatment plan.
Treatment Overview
- Preparation – is key! After your inspection the Pest Management Technician will provide you with a “Bed Bug Preparation Sheet”, the items on this sheet need to complete prior to your scheduled treatment date. Bed bug treatment is a partnership that requires full cooperation from both client and Pest Control Technicians.
- Vacuuming – GreenLeaf will use specific pest control vacuums that have strong suction, specific tools to suction small cracks and crevices and reach areas that a traditional vacuum will not. A thorough vacuum of the infested areas will be completed, physically removing the bed bugs puts us one step ahead.
- Steaming – a study in United States (Meek 2003) has shown that using a combination of steam and insecticides provides better long term control than by using insecticides alone. GreenLeaf will use commercial steamers to treat infested areas with temperatures above 120?C of heat steam at a minimum flow rate, to ensure bugs aren’t blown around. It kills bed bugs, bed bug eggs, fleas and dust mites instantly, yet also cools to the touch within seconds so no damage is caused to furniture and surfaces. For more information on steaming please click on WHY HIGH HEAT STEAM FOR BED BUGS?
- Residual Treatment – following the vacuuming and the steaming GreenLeaf will apply Diatomaceous Earth (a non-toxic pesticide) to crack and crevice areas, paying particular attention to areas where we were unable to treat with steam (i.e. electrical outlets etc.) Depending on the severity of the infestation we will also apply a chemical spray for bed bugs to the areas required.
- Encasement and Monitoring – as the last step in the treatment process GreenLeaf will seal mattress and box springs with a bed bug proof encasement and place bed bug monitoring devices The Bed Moat (www.thebedmoat.com) on the legs of beds and couches.
- Next Steps – your GreenLeaf Pest Control Technician will leave you with some valuable information on what to do post-treatment, what to expect in the first few days after treatment, recommendations for repairs and your scheduled 2 week follow up date.
